The main attributes you need are:

          • Enthusiasm for what we are doing
          • Commitment to give your time
          • Willingness to roll your sleeves up and contribute

As a volunteer – whatever your interest and skills we can offer you a chance to contribute to your local community and help women who need some support at a difficult time. e-mail yvonne.oglesby@purplehouse.co.uk for more details.

          Safe as Houses

In light of the current Covid-19 advice from the Government Purplehouse will continue to provide services, however most of this will be done over the phone. Safe as Houses – launched as part of Hull Business Week June 2015

If you have a property to let or around £12,000 to invest and are looking for an opportunity to create a return ethically and help out a family in need, then read on…….

The Umbrella Housing service managed by WINNER supports landlords and potential landlords to find properties that will house women and children in need.

We offer low cost accommodation to women and children at Local Housing Allowance rental rates. This is also attractive to potential landlords as the purchase price of suitable property in Hull is extremely competitive. For example a two bedroomed terraced house in a popular rental area typically costs around £50,000. This means that the rental income on the property more than covers all the mortgage repayments and ongoing costs of insurance, repairs and maintenance.

Click here to download  a fact sheet of the initiative and some information on the financial returns

          How does it work?

          You get:

          • A buy to let property generating an income for you year on year
          • A fully managed service with no stress or additional work
          • Long term capital growth on the value of your property

          The family gets:

          • A safe, affordable home to live in with ongoing support from the women’s centre

          We get:

          • A competitively priced income for managing your property (£50 per calendar month)

The management service we offer includes:

          • Sourcing and interviewing prospective tenants
          • Handling all queries
          • Rent collection, repairs and support needs.

Our void rates are consistent at less than half of one percent each year (0.5% per annum) and we can often fill your property on the same day it is vacated. If you are interested in our management service then please e-mail info@purplehouse.co.uk

Preston Road Women’s Centre is a local charity providing a range of specialist services enabling women and children to get back on their feet after domestic violence or other traumatic life events.

In this difficult financial climate, the services are experiencing increased demand with no additional funding to increase the help we can offer.

If you were in a position to make even a small donation, your generosity could make a big difference to a family in dire straits:

          • £5 could provide a food parcel for a family fleeing violence
          • £10 could provide a Nursery place for a child whilst Mum receives confidential support
          • £25 could provide an individualised safety plan for a family experiencing ongoing harassment

          Online

One-off donations or regular monthly payments can be made online by going to www.justgiving.com/winner

          By post

If you would like to support our work by making a donation, we would be happy to receive your cheque. Please make it payable to:

          Preston Road Women’s Centre
          185 Preston Road
          Hull
          HU9 5UY

          Inland Revenue Gift Aid scheme

To help us make the most of your donation, we can claim back any income tax you have paid on your donation, through the Inland Revenue’s Gift Aid Scheme. All you need to do is to give your name and address when you make your donation and we will do the rest. Click here for Gift Aid form.

          Remembering us in your will

If you are currently thinking of making a will, you might like to consider making a bequest to the women’s centre. Remembering us in your will is a way for you to ensure that your money will help others when you have passed on.
