Volunteering means offering your time freely to help others. At Purple House, women of all ages and backgrounds contribute thousands of hours each year—supporting others, building confidence, and strengthening the community.
How to Become a Volunteer

Drop In
Visit us Monday–Friday, 10am–4pm to learn more.

Join Our Volunteer Training Course
A 5-week, in-house course delivered one day per week. Includes a CERTA-recognised qualification.

Get Inducted
On course completion, our Volunteer Co-ordinators will induct and support you into your new role.

Stay Supported
Ongoing one-to-one support from the team throughout your volunteering journey.

Volunteer Opportunities
Roles

Reception Work
Greet visitors, develop admin skills, and become the first friendly face women see.

Social Activities
Help lead events such as health drop-ins, fundraisers, and art therapy
sessions.

Charity Shop
Gain retail experience, learn leadership skills, and support our social enterprise.

Umbrella Project
Support the housing project with admin tasks or accompany staff during appointments.

Domestic Abuse Support
Shadow trained staff in supporting women with housing, benefits, appointments, and safety planning.
Note: New volunteer roles are often shaped by the ideas and passions of women themselves.
Free On-Site Childcare for Volunteers
We understand childcare can be a barrier to participation. That’s why, subject to funding, we offer free creche places to women attending courses and volunteering with us.
