What Our Learners Say
I found the course absolutely brilliant at building my confidence in myself, learning all about everything that the centre does, different roles, lots of positivity and really decent women. I’ve pushed myself week after week, even when I’ve had a few personal issues to deal with. Turned up and pushed through! Stacey is the true start tho, I think she could teach me algebra, and I think it would go in!
I would recommend the volunteer course to anyone who wishes to work with vulnerable women and is passionate about feminist issues. Stacey ran the course extremely well, the atmosphere was relaxed, and I was made to feel welcome, and all staff, volunteers and other course participants were friendly. I am excited about participating in more training courses at the centre and I feel any training can help to develop an individual on a personal and professional level.
Since coming on this course I have gained in confidence and knowledge, I’ve taken time to reflect on myself. I see more good in me than I did before and this shows even out of the course. My friends and family have both been commenting on the change in me. I would recommend this course to all females – it’s been brilliant. It was taught well by Stacey, and I’ve met some amazing girls.
Coming here every Thursday changed my life. Before I didn’t have any social activities or confidence speaking out loud in front of a group of people. I learned to recognise early signs of an abusive relationship and how important it is studying and achieving new skills. I learned to listen and talk in front of a wonderful group of very strong women. I opened up and I learned to be proud of my words. Thank you very much for this amazing opportunity and I hope that another person finds this place as I did.
This course has been incredibly insightful and impactful. Despite the sensitive nature of the course, I still enjoyed myself throughout. Being able to input and collectively discuss the topics included was very liberating and I can say I am confidently walking away with a detailed knowledge of understanding abusive relationships. Stacey is an incredible teacher who guides the course with such empathy and respect. She is incredibly engaging, and I have loved listening to her over the last 5 weeks. I would 100% recommend this course to anyone.
The classroom was a suitable area to study effectively, and the tutor was very knowledgeable. She was happy to answer questions and give feedback. The subject matter was dealt with sensitively so that it wasn’t too triggering. I felt the learning environment was safe and supportive. I learnt things that I didn’t already know and enhanced my current knowledge. I feel more confident about recognizing future abusive relationships and situations now. I would recommend this course to any women who may be in an abusive relationship and also to people who may wish to have a greater understanding of such issues.
