Volunteering
The volunteer project is a very busy and important part of the Preston Road Women’s Centre, co-ordinated by one member of staff.
Volunteering is when women give up there time to work freely with no financial gain. We have lots of new and established volunteers joining and developing together. The volunteers are of all ages and background and women give thousands of volunteering hours per quarter.
We have lots of volunteering options, working with projects within the centre, such as the Sexual Health Project, Domestic Violence project, Accommodation Project and the Nursery. Volunteers can also work in reception, admin and finance. They can also work on the volunteer project to develop and train others, to support tutors or you can even train to be a tutor yourself.
Other volunteering options have been developed by volunteers themselves, for example, the Art and Crafts Group, the Complimentary Therapies Group, the Gardening project and hopefully in the future a Community Garden Project. These are all run by dedicated volunteers who, with support from the Volunteer Co-ordinator, do their own fund raising, plan sessions and develop a programme to then mail out to the community. So as you can see, volunteers are busy busy dedicated women. WELL DONE ALL !!!!!
